OVPR Funds for Research and Scholarship
Faculty Fellowship Salary Supplement

PURPOSE: Many prestigious external fellowships fail to provide funding support equal to university salary levels. To ensure faculty are not deterred from seeking these scholarly opportunities, LS&A and OVPR have established this faculty award supplement.
ELIGIBILITY AND AWARD LEVELS: LS&A faculty who win major external fellowships will automatically have their requests for LS&A supplementary support forwarded by the LS&A Dean's Office to OVPR in cases where:
a) the fellowship award is less than the faculty member's salary, and b) LS&A's supplement of up to 25% of the faculty member's total salary is insufficient to make the award equal to current salary.
OVPR will contribute up to 25% of the faculty member's current salary resulting in a combined LS&A/OVPR provision for a full 50% of salary.
Also, a $3,000 Faculty Recognition Award may be awarded to those who win prestigious fellowships. This award may be used for travel, books, research assistance, and so forth. Consideration requires a memo to the Dean of the Graduate School detailing the nature of the fellowship award.
OTHER SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: OVPR will consider arrangements similar to the provisions for LS&A faculty on a case-by-case basis. Such arrangements will require significant support from the faculty applicant's school or college.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: For LS&A faculty, contact LS&A Office of the Dean for Academic Appointments (763-3271). For all others, applicants should submit five (5) copies of the OVPR Faculty Grants and Awards Program application form.
