Policies on Conflict of Interest

University policy must comply with State and Federal external requirements. The University has chosen to apply the standards of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) regulations and National Science Foundation (NSF) policy to all sponsored research regardless of sponsor. To do otherwise would present serious logistical problems as well as create an inappropriate double standard for research agreements.

  1. Public Health Service (PHS) regulations, which apply to PHS-sponsored research (PHS subsumes the National Institute of Health, the Center for Disease Control, and other federal health agencies)

  8. An implementing policy statement, published in the Faculty Handbook, specifies a limit on the number of days of outside compensated activity--the maximum permitted being four days per month.
